WOULD YOU EAT HERE ?

A new restaurant opened today in Dallas, The Heart Attack Grill. The waitresses wear nurses uniforms and the cooks wear lab coats, customers are given hospital gowns to put on over their clothes. They fry their potatoes in lard and offer 4 different hamburgers named by-passes. So you could have a double by-pass or quadruple by-pass. If you eat the quadruple by-pass they take you to your car in a wheel chair. Any one over 350 pounds gets to eat free. I think I can find a better way to spend my money then here.

INTO THE WOODS

This morning was beautiful, sunny and with a nice breeze. Christy and I went out for more of a walk that a run. I wanted to try a new trail my neighbor had told me about.

It took us past the lake and then back out on to the main road.

Past the duck crossing sign. I didn't see any ducks but sometimes when I driving this road they have been there.

Across the new pedestrian bridge that took 5 months to build and kept the road closed.

Here's what we were looking for, the forest trail.

There are lots of signs on the trail but this one creeped me out. I told Christy if I saw a snake I was probably going to scream and toss my water bottle, so be prepared.

There are three different trails red, blue or yellow. We decided to take the yellow.

Along the way there were lots of flowers. Didn't see a snake but heard some noises in the tall grass. I was surprised how long the trails were and how quiet it was . This area is surrounded by roads and homes.

Once we were out of the woods we were back on the cement trails and passed a burrow and goat, can you see them? The burrow is to the left of the goat.

I guess we were to loud as this guy stuck his head up to see what we were doing.

Here's a picture I snapped of us in the safety mirror. As you can see no one was coming on the trail behind us.

FRIENDS IN TEXAS

Yesterday I picked my friend Shirley up and we headed for the Hilton in Los Colinas to meet a friend of her daughters. I was thinking we would be meeting an older gal only because she said they played canasta. Somehow I associated that with someone older. We were pleasantly surprised to see a young girl come around the corner and greet us. After introducing ourselves we asked Yogida if she would like to try Mexican for lunch, I was sure she would be able to find something vegetarian on the menu.

Shirley and I decided on the Los Cabos salad, which is chopped lettuce with bacon and avocado mixed together and topped with chicken. This is a really good salad!

A close up view of the salad sitting on a tortilla with sauce around it. Yogida selected vegetable tacos and was pleased with her choice. For dessert we shared a tres leche cake. The perfect finish to a lovely lunch.

After lunch we headed over to Barnes and Noble and then Target. Yogida was searching for some canasta cards. Finished with shopping it was back to the hotel, ? Yogida wanted us to help her with her money. We explained what they were worth and how many different combinations made a dollar. She had the paper money down but the cents confused her. I remember when I first visited Belgium I felt like I had Monopoly money, it meant nothing to me. I hope we helped. She presented Shirley with a beautiful silver box used to keep small jewelry in and then gave me a glass bead necklace. It was a wonderful day. We sat out by the hotel pool and chatted about everything. Finally we said our good by's and told her if she ever came back she had friends in Texas.

THEME FOR THE WEEK

My week is not going the way I had planned. Monday I missed boot camp because I was sitting in the dentist chair. When I got home I slept most of the afternoon. I get so tense when I'm in the chair that I am always exhausted when I get home.

Tuesday was coffee with my friend and then I caught up on things that needed done at home.

Today I will miss boot camp because I promised a friend I would go with her to lunch. We are taking a lady who is visiting here from Dubai. The lady also wants to go to Target.

BOSTON MARATHON

Saturday we met Jenny, Mark and the boys at the hotel in Cambridge, had lunch and then headed in to Boston to pick up the race packets.

Mark and Jenny purchased their Boston jackets. This took top priority. No one was going to go home without " the jacket".

Jenny is excited to get her packet. The expo was really busy so we didn't spend much time there.

Sunday we were to meet up with Mark's family at Quincy Market. We hung out with them and then all 12 of us went to dinner at Ricardo's in Little Italy. Of course the dinner of choice was pasta.

Monday morning dawned bright and sunny, Jenny and Mark had left the hotel at six to meet with Jamie and get the bus to the race start. Tom, Andy, Tom and I got breakfast at the hotel and then left around 9 to ride the T out to the 17th mile.

We had the T figured out and knew we would take the green line to Woodland.I was surprised at all the people lining the race course. Everyone was excited, lots of noise. The boys and I found a good spot to catch the runners as they passed.

We saw the girl all covered in some kind of weird costume, even her face was covered. I don't know how she ran like that.

We saw the elite runners go by. They make it look so easy.

I even noticed the no stopping sign behind us.

I was moved when the troops came marching through with full packs on their backs.

Finally my husband spotted Mark. I yelled his name and he looked but later he said he never saw us.

We waited to spot our daughter. She was wearing a blue shirt. We waited. There were a lot of blue shirts. Then my husband got an up-date. " We've missed her" he said. WHAT! I drove 1800 miles to Boston to watch my daughter run an elite race, one that you have to qualify for, and I missed her running. We never saw her cross the finish line, either. The crowds at the finish line were too thick to move through. Guess she'll have to do it again!

This was one of the best races to be a spectator. Everyone is cheering and the streets are lined with people. They said there were over 500,000 spectators lining the course. We all had a great time at the Boston Marathon.
