STOP BEATING MYSELF UP

I was suppose to do a 5K race on Saturday. It is one that I have run before and I like the course. I had everything set out the night before, bib, chip, shirt and shorts. I woke up in plenty of time to eat and get ready. As I was waiting to go I started getting really nervous. Don't ask me why, I don't know but I couldn't make myself get in the car and go. So, I missed the race and it has been bothering me all weekend that I did that. What a jerk.
Today in the mail I received a bracelet and it had a charm on it that said BELIEVE, that's what I didn't do Saturday. From now on I am going to "believe" in myself . I am a runner and I can do this. No more missed races!

Jenny told me this weekend how upset you were with yourself that you did this ... You are RIGHT, you should not beat yourself up. I think each and every one of us needs a race that we didn't do just because we'll never do that to ourselves again. It's a lousy feeling we don't want to repeat. I "blew off" a 1/2 marathon (Gasparilla) one year because it was raining when I woke up. The race was postponed, the rain let up, and it ended up being a gorgeous morning - or so I heard, I was sleeping :-/. Anyway, I have *NEVER* ever ever missed a race since because I am still not over missing that one, LOL. Even if the race might be called for weather, I'm going to be there when they call it.

Anyway, with so many accomplishments under your belt, give yourself a break on this one - it happens, and it does not diminish all that you've achieved - running and otherwise!!

Happy belated Mother's Day!
