IS IT POLLEN ....

Yesterday I had the chills all day. I thought of not going to running class but figured it might help. I did run but not up to what I usually do. Ran about 2.5 miles.

This morning my throat is sore and I had training. I made it to the gym and we did back, abs, triceps, biceps and chest. I thought working out might help me feel better. I don't know if its the pollen or am I coming down with something. It never fails that whenever I have a trip coming up I always get sick. I guess I'll just wait it out and see, drink lots of water and take vitamins.

Tomorrow we leave for Atlanta. The ING race is on Sunday. I am hoping for a better time than 3.27.

Happy Easter Everyone

Oh my gosh I don't know where the week went. I guess I have been busy making decorated Easter cookies(we don't dye eggs anymore) that I haven't had time to blog.

Thursday night was running class and we went to the track. Three of us are running and one has had some problems with her leg so she walks. We did some Indian drills which were fun and we managed to even run for 7 minutes. That is huge for us. We did around 2.8 miles. Also Thursday was sock night and everyone got a pair of Thorlos.

Friday was gym day with Shayla, working shoulders, back and abs. The weights are increasing so I must be getting stronger.

Saturday I went out and ran/walked 3 miles. It felt good to be out and I needed the exercise because I had to work at the shoe store.

Hats off to Mark who ran a 5K on Saturday and won the over all. He came home with lots of goodies.

Also congrats to Kathryn for placing 2nd in her age division. You Florida people are awesome runners.

Today is to be a long run and I am hoping for the weather to cooperate. WE are about 50 and windy. I'll give it a few more hours and if no improvement will head to the gym.

Where ever you are enjoy your day.

NOT OBLIGATED

Everyone is out shopping for Easter and I am just trying to figure out how to get my runs in. I was at the gym for training this morning. Of course it was legs day and running a few laps around the gym. I am waiting for the wind to die down so I can run outside.

I received this daily thought from RealSimple and thought I would share.

"You're not obligated to win. You're obligated to keep trying to do the best you can every day." Marion Wright Edelman

I think this is true for running, although winning would be nice.

RAIN, RAIN and MORE RAIN

WE have had one crazy wet day. From the first thing this morning it has poured. I watched the pool fill up. I saw ducks in the backyard. I didn't see a note from my running class, but I was hoping. I finally called the store at 4:30 and said I wouldn't be coming in. I heard a little chuckle. Did they think I was a sissy and couldn't run in the rain? Then I saw the reason, and E-mail saying all classes were canceled for the night. So tomorrow I will have to get out and run , but tonight I am watching my shows. Just for the record we have had over 5 inches of rain.

IF ONLY..

If I only had long legs I could run a lot faster. One of the ladies on my running team has long legs and she is quicker than me. Last night was running class. I wore my new shirt. It is really comfortable. We did intervals at 4 minutes to 1 minute. There were only three of us there. We even managed to get a few more miles. This time it was 2.58. Next week he is hoping to have us run 5 minutes, we'll see.

This morning it was back to the gym for some training. We worked on back and biceps. I did a warm up on the bike because I was early.

I need to get a long run in this weekend. Hope the weather holds.

TAGGED

It's hard to believe that last week we were having a snow storm and today it is going to 78. Tuesday night was running class and we got our shirts. They are really cool, a grey Brooks tech shirt with Runner in Training on the front. WE did an easy 25 minutes at 4minutes running to 1 walking and also did some drills. I was glad to hear our mileage had increased to 2.3 miles.

Monday and Wednesday I trained at the gym with Shayla, we worked on legs, shoulders, chest and triceps.

I was tagged by Amy. Now I have to tell 5 things about me.

1. I won the county pie contest in 10th grade. I made a maple pecan pie.

2. I am a chocolateholic. I love chocolate but it has to be good chocolate. I have been known to hide it in my underwear drawer. Who would think to look in there.

3. My picture was in Prevention magazine for hiking in Austria.

4. I had to spend a day in the closet in 1st grade for talking too much in class.

5.I would like to learn to paint with water colors. Maybe some day I will take a class.

NOT A BAD THING

Yesterday was beautiful with all the snow, today the snowmen have shrunk and most of the snow is gone. This morning my trainer called to cancel our session. That was fine with me, I'd go to a movie instead. Well we went to the early show($5) got our popcorn and drinks and waited for the show to start. Oops, the picture was off track and while they tried to fix it we waited. No luck so we were given 2 passes and told we could go to another movie that was showing , plus we would get our money back. We took 2 more passes instead of money(now have 4 passes) and went into another theater. Oops picture was off track. You guessed it! We got more passes. This time we left, so for $10 we got 6 movie passes. I guess we had a better day at the theater than Lincoln. So long story short if I had had my training session I wouldn't have 6 passes. Sometimes missing a workout is not a bad thing !

WINTER WALLOP

Tonight was suppose to be running class and then a speaker from Cooper Clinic. I was really looking forward to this but the sky opened up about noon and we had snow, snow and more snow. Beautiful big flakes that looked like they came from a feather pillow. No way you can run in that.

GET OUT AND VOTE, GET OUT AND RUN

Yesterday was the primary in Texas and Ohio. I hope those who wanted to vote got out and did it.

Last night I had running class. We headed over to the track and this time did 4 minutes running than 1 minute walking. There were four of us, with one walking. We all were able to do this pace so I think Thursday we will be going for 5 minute run. We increased our miles by a 1/2 mile by just adding an extra minute of running.
This morning it was back to the gym for weight workout. The target today was biceps and back.

Total miles 1.87

Total for week 5.87

GONE FISHING

This morning I was up at the gym for my regular training session with Shayla. Today was legs and shoulders. We are trying to strengthen my right leg. After we were finished I had her show me the proper way to use the rowing machine. This is a new cardio for me and I wanted to make sure I was doing it right. Little did I know the machine had a game on it! FISH, well I pressed that and began rowing, trying to catch these fish. I'm not sure what the rules are but I had a great time playing and doing cardio. Does anyone know the rules to the game?

Yesterday I did the treadmill for 4 miles. Nothing great but at least I moved.

Total miles this week 4
