Where did the week go ?

Wed. was a day off. I went to a shoe store with my friend and tried on some fung chey shoes.They are suppose to give you a great work out. Similar to MBTs.

Thursday was a gym day with another new trainer. WE worked back and chest and boy am I sore. I did sign up for some Saturday sessions with ZU (my new trainer).

Friday I awoke to perfect (so I thought) weather to walk outside. I dropped Allie at school and started off from Kids Kastle. I ran walked but it was getting hot and the humidity was high. I kept on trekking, wishing I had brought some water with me. Finished at 47 minutes and did 3:09 miles.

New Trainer

Today was at the gym with a new trainer. She concentrated on biceps and triceps. I hadn't done these for awhile and was surprised at how much I was sweating. Had a good thirty minute workout. No cardio today.

Okay I learned my lesson yesterday, too hot. Today I headed for the gym to do and easy walk. No green giant to follow. I did 20 minutes of walking and then ran .25 then walking. You can always talk yourself into going longer. I was going to do 3 miles but decided from now on I should do at least 4 miles when I'm on the treadmill or out walking. Why 4 miles, well it is a third of the 1/2 and if I keep increasing I will be able to do half a 1/3 at a time.

Follow the Green Giant

Today I was going to do the trail so I started up the street with a warm up. Just as I was getting to the start a guy in green tights (can you believe it) ran past. Why not try to keep up with him I thought! At a distance I ran behind the giant and to my surprise I ran over 1/2 mile with out stopping. A first for me. However the day was too hot and I new I wouldn't make 6 miles. I turned back just past Kids Kastle and headed home. Way too late to start run/walking and way too hot. Couldn't wait to get home and I jumped in the pool with my clothes on to cool off. Lesson learned, get up early.

Yesterday I did 30 minutes on the treadmill walking and running, mostly walking. Today I had an appointment with the trainer so I figured I would just train and skip my cardio workout.
We worked on the major muscle group, the legs, which I hate to do. Squats, extensions, lunges, you get the picture. I was sore and tired when we finished and was walking towards the door, but then decided that since I was here I would go upstairs and do the bike for about 5 minutes just to loosen up the legs. Well 20 minutes later I had my cardio in. So you see, sometimes it just takes getting there.

The Real Me

I fired my secretary and am now doing my own writing.

Today I had my first training session after being off for a month. Trust me, lifting a fork and a wine glass does not count as lifting weights! We worked on legs, back and chest for thirty minutes. I'm a little sore tonight but it is a good sore. I also did thirty minutes on the bike. After working out I had to race to Darla"s store to work with Krystle. I managed to sell a few inserts. I also tried on a cool pair of shoes called powerburst. They are just being sold in the US. Have a great day.

Tee Time

I've decided that going out for a run is like golf. Do you know how when you are about to tee off, but you really don't want to because it seems like everyone is watching you, and you are out in the open by the clubhouse. Well, I can't start running from my driveway because my neighbors might be looking out the window. I wait until I am out of view of my street. I guess it is a good way to warm-up.

It was very hot on my run today. I did 2 miles in 32 minutes. I would have liked to go a little faster, but I had to make a pit stop.

My first Blog

Okay, so my youngest daughter talked me into starting this blog. Actually, she tried to trick me into it, but she's not a good liar so I was on to her. But I like reading my all of my daughters' blogs, as well as a few others, so I decided what could it hurt. Plus, for now it is marked private, and only my family can read it!

I did go up to the gym today. I was originally going to go out this morning with Christy for 6 1/2 miles, but we both weren't quite up for that. So instead, I opted for the air conditioned treadmill. I was going to do 3 miles, but then got to thinking I should at least do a 5k. At the 5k mark, I thought I should train to do MORE than a 5k, so I kept going. At 4 miles, I figured I might as well add another 1/2 mile onto this workout. So my final was 4.5 miles!

Since there are only 5 more months left until the big day, I am going to remain committed to training for this. I really want the half-marathon medal! (My son-in-law Mark said he won't sell his medal from last year.) Check back for my next post on my next workout!
