CHANGES

Remember to drink lots of water to stay hydrated while you run.
It was back to the gym yesterday to train with Shayla. This time without my training partner. We worked on biceps, triceps, and abs. I mentioned that we had done this already but she reminded me that it was a light workout last time.

Oh, how could I forget. On a sad note she told me that she had turned in her resignation and so I will have only two more sessions with her. I always hate having to make changes. Now I will need to find a new trainer and new times probably.

More changes, I think my brain must go fuzzy when my girls visit because I tend to sign up for races. When Katy was here we decided to sign up for the Georgia ING in March of 2009 and when Amy was here we signed up with Jenny for the Disney Princess in March. Two halves in one month, does that make a marathon ?

My new motto to get me training is:

You're not a PRINCESS yet, so get runnING now.

WORKING OUT TOGETHER

This week Amy was able to go to the gym with me and workout. Shayla was nice enough to agree to train her along with me. On Monday we did arms and back. There were a few complaints about weights being too heavy and " how sore I'm going to be" and " maybe I won't go on Wednesday"but all in all we had a great time. Both of us were sore the next day.
Today was legs, and did she work us hard. I had sweat dripping off me. Amy seemed to be doing just fine. She got to try out some machines that she had never used at her gym. Again it was another good work day !
Having someone to work out with is fun, it makes the session go so much faster.

RACE REPORT

We were up and out the door by 5:45 headed for Dallas and the Hottest Race. At the time we left the house it was about 77 out so we were hoping it wouldn't be too hot to run. I got to give credit to our photographer who managed to get up early with us just to take out picture and wish us luck. Thanks Tom.

We were lucky with the temp, it was cooler that the Too Hot To Handle we ran in July. There even was a slight breeze at times and of course there was shade. Most of the course was flat and ran along side the lake. The only bad part was the last 1/4 mile was up hill. Amy and Stefaan finished first so Amy met me coming in and I handed over the camera so she could snap this pick.
If you look close you can see my son-in-law taking a movie of me running in.

We took some time out to cool off and rest and wait for the awards.

Amy and I toast to our finish with a cold Stampede beer and wait to cheer Christy.

And can you believe it ! Elvis was there and you know what a fan I am.
My time was 1:26 and I took 2nd place. I said I missed first place because I stopped twice to take Amy and Stefaan's pictures. What a nice mom. : )

Next race will be on the 6th. The Race for Recovery

HUMIDITY.. YUCK

Newport Beach, Rhode Island
There is something about running with others that makes a run so much easier. This morning Stefaan, Amy and I went out to get a few miles in. I took them on the route that I usually take. They were faster than me and I would tell them where to go and then where to wait for me to show up. About half way through the run I had to ease up and just walk. The humidity was too much for me to deal with and I was starting to feel nauseated. We finished with 4:75 miles in about an hour and 15 minutes.

Later in the day we headed over to Run On to pick up our packets for the Hottest Race we are doing on Sunday.

Call me crazy but yesterday I signed up to run the Georgia ING in March of 2009 with Katy and her friend. Oops I did it again.

MEMORIES

Today is wet and rainy, perfect for the gym. I had a training session with Shayla. Since I hadn't done weights for about 4 weeks she did a light workout.I thought I would share some pictures from the route I ran in Maine. The view from the top of the hill looking out on Linikin Bay.
For some reason I loved this sign and wondered , is it a family name or name of a cottage.

As I turned to run back to Briggs Lane I would pass the old red barn.

Down the hill and past the pond. It has always looked the same. Wonder if there are any fish in there ?

My favorite thing , the hydrangeas. They are always big and beautiful. We just can't grow them like this in Texas.

SUNDAY RUN

Not a very great run today. My right hamstring was bothering me. I did meet a lady who was a runner and told me all about the Dallas Running Club. She said I should join but I don't know, maybe.

Here's a picture from the route I ran in Maine. I miss those shady trails and the beautiful ferns that grow along side the road.

I'M HOME

This morning I headed out for my first run after getting home from vacation. It was a cool 80 degrees with slight humidity. Just as I got to the corner to start my run I heard a swish noise. I looked up and coming right over me was a hot air balloon. Behind it were more balloons, I felt like I was being chased. I managed to run the first mile before stopping. I did the usual course for a total of 4:66 miles in 1 hour and 9 minutes, that included stops for traffic and to get a stone out of my shoe. Actually it was a yellow bead and I think the ghost in Maine must have put it in my shoe because I don't know where it came from.

Yesterday I went to the gym and did 1 mile on the treadmill and 20 minutes on the bike.
